Guadalajara, Mexico. Where do I even begin? We could start off with it being the birthplace of the world famous mariachi bands and you can spot them on almost every corner. Literally, you can eat, drink, and be serenaded by these talented and effortless mariachi groups that not only dress to impress but send love waves throughout their city.
Three things that I took away from my trip to Guadalajara was first impressions, how “in the moment” the people are, and the tequila…oh wait, I meant the music! But out of all three, the one that has stuck with me the most is first impressions.
The women of Guadalajara first of all are like GORGEOUS…no, like SUPER INSANE GORGEOUS! Their beauty, a bonus but my attention was on the way these women carried themselves and how they took much pride in their appearance.
If you know me, then you know I’m 95% casual and 99% of the time not wearing makeup. I didn’t mind it, it’s what I prefer and got use to. Something clicked during my trip and the women I was surrounded by, they inspired me in a way…I guess we in America call it, “getting your sexy back!” Sounds silly but straight up, that’s how I felt!
First impressions here in the states (yikes, picking on Dallas some) are more focused on what kind of car someone drives, what they do for a living, how much money they make, what kind of bag they’re carrying,…blah, blah, blah. If you think about it, how is this even considered a first impression??? However, in Guadalajara, these women have this super woman tunnel vision and first impressions are how one carries themselves and when they walk, it’s with purpose!
I can go on and on…but I feel like you get what I’m saying here. I was never one for putting on makeup just to go the grocery store but now, I find myself taking a little extra time and add just a little bit of gloss and let’s face it, mascara never hurts either. I love this new confidence I have and have got the women of Guadalajara to thank.
