Alright, alright, alright!!! I’ve been SO excited to share with you guys my transformation from brunette to blonde! Before you guys scroll down and get to the good stuff, let me just make this blog post short and sweet.
Why did I decide to do this? Well, it’s only hair…aaaaand a little more than that too! You see, I’ve become so predictable with my style. I was getting so comfortable with myself and had an itch to change it up, not some but DRAMATICALLY change it up! I hope you guys read this and can apply it to your own lives. I’ve been way too comfortable and I believe we should always recreate ourselves, get outside our comfort zones, do something BIG for ourselves and find a new confidence in something we’ve never before. We should always be growing and re-creating, I truly believe that.
So here it is…a quick video of my road trip and the 15 hour transformation that has
GIVEN ME LIFE!!!
Crazy right??? I’M A BLONDE!! Here’s the situation with that…let’s have a little talk shall we?
Yes, you read that right. FIFTEEN HOURS!
WHY:Why drive 3 hours to get my hair done? Well, for one Estilo Salon & Spa are one of the best in the business, it was a no brainer. Secondly, My cousin (Mario Tort, owner) and his team are not only amazing but the salon itself is my favorite getaway. And lastly, HELLO this is a DRASTIC CHANGE and I’ve gotta 100% trust the people who are coloring my hair.
Couple of things that you gotta know and do if you decide to take the blonde plunge.
1. Talk to your colorist. A conversation is a must: what’s the goal/inspo pic, the plan, and the results you want. Also let them know if you’ve colored your hair before.
2. Clear your calendar. You’ll be in the salon A WHOLE DAY. You’re going from brunette to blonde, so you’ll be there a while. My process took 15 hours, two colorist, and I STILL have to go back in two weeks to complete our hair goal. My hair is pretty long too so also consider that.
3. Don’t freak out. There’s multiple stages colorist have to go through so don’t panic when you see the color in between the steps. Once its all said and done, know you can’t wash your hair for about a week (my favorite part).
4. Maintenance. This one I have to pay attention to because I’ve never had to use certain products for my hair. I’ve always been brown and I’ve always just threw some brand of shampoo in the cart. But now…oh man. Once you go blonde, maintenance is SUPER IMPORTANT. My hair is strong and thick. I never washed my hair everyday anyways so I will shampoo once a week along with a hair mask for now until my hair processes this change.
Changing my hair meant several things. A new confidence, new makeup and experimenting with my style a bit. This is just part of the process and I can’t wait to update you guys in a few weeks when I’m back the Estilo Salon & Spa team! But in the mean time…
HI, I’M BLONDE!!!!!
